President's Corner

Welcome and thank you for visiting the to the Buena Vista Rotary Club website. Since 1997 BV Rotarians have committed their energy and enthusiasm by putting service above self in this beautiful Colorado mountain town. Club members actively support Rotary International’s polio plus program and the efforts to eradicate polio in our world. Clean drinking water and healthy communities are important to our members who have witnessed the impact of our work throughout the world.

In and around our home town of Buena Vista, Colorado, Rotarians are at work throughout the year providing valuable services to the community. Our Rotarians place a high focus on our youths and many of these services reflect this focus. Here’s a sampling of our projects:

·         Free Dictionaries for 3rd Graders in BV and Surrounding Towns

·         College & Trade-School Scholarships for High School Seniors

·         Children’s Health Fair

·         Easter Egg Hunt for Local Youth

·         Hydration Station for Treat Street on October 31st

·         Free Tax Preparation

·         Quarterly Dinners at the Arkansas Valley Christian Mission

·         Rotary Day at Habitat for Humanity – Three Clubs Participating

·         Bell Ringing for Salvation Army (funds collected are for local programs)

·         Trash Pick-Up in Partnership with Interact Students

·         Sponsorship of Students to Attend Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA)

·         Assistance with Local Events (like trash removal duties for Gold Rush Days)

·         Funding of Local Non-Profit Organization Projects

·         Water for Haiti Villages

·        Buena Vista Bike Fest

Our Club meetings are open and all are welcome to participate. For those who have never been to a Rotary meeting, we meet for one hour each week for fellowship and learning about the community and service opportunities. We start each meeting with the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance and recite the 4-Way Test of all we “think, say and do”. If you are a visiting Rotarian, you will hear about local efforts and interact with local Rotarians who share your enthusiasm for serving the community in a meaningful way.

I invite you to attend one of our meetings and share the Rotary experience with us!

Sincerely,

Chris Quoyeser
