Interact at Buena Vista High School

Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages 14-18. The

program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends. Through service activities, Interactors learn the importance of:

                ...Developing leadership skills and personal integrity;

                ...Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others; and

                ...Advancing international understanding and goodwill.

About Interact

Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but Interact clubs are self-governing and self-supporting. Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through projects, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs. And, in the process, Interactors develop leadership skills and learn the value of hard work. As one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 8,600 Interact clubs in some 110 countries and geographical areas, Interact has become a worldwide phenomenon. Interactors also often spearhead the formation of Rotaract clubs at colleges and participate in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). Interactors also often go on to become Youth Exchange students or Ambassadorial Scholars.

Collection Banks for the Buena Vista Habitat for Humanity

The Buena Vista High School Interact Club has taken on a project to assist the local Habitat for Humanity Organization in the raising of funds for the building of homes in the local area, One of the fundraising programs is the placement of “collection banks” in local businesses in the area. In the above pictures may be seen several of the Interact Club members creating these “collection banks” that take the form of houses.

The BVHS Interact Club, in association with the Rotary Club of Buena Vista, presented dictionaries to the 3rd graders at Avery-Parsons Elementary School. The dictionaries are always a big hit with the students here in Buena Vista. Several of the Interact Club members are pictured here holding dictionaries to be given to the students.
